Why do I need to drink water?

Men are approximately 65% water. Women are approximately 55% water. If you don’t drink enough water your body will be out of balance. One should drink the amount of water they weigh in kilograms in ounces per day. Example: If you weigh 154 pounds, you need to drink 70 ounces of water per day. Water helps to alleviate headaches, helps to improve your complexion, and is a significant component in preventing constipation.

How much and why should I exercise?

Check with your physician before starting an exercise routine. Exercise should be a part of you regular routine. Exercise for a minimum of 3 to 4 times a week for 20 minutes each time. During exercise try to maintain a heart rate or 80% of your maximum heart rate (220/age*80%). Exercise improves you overall well being. Exercise helps you burn off excess calories (fat). Exercise helps increase your good component of cholesterol. Exercise helps your heart beat stronger.

How much and what kind of meat should I eat?

Cut down or eliminate red meats such as pork or beef, (they are much higher in saturated fat which is converted into bad cholesterol in the body). Eat lean meat. If you are going to eat meat, cut off all of the fat. Your best meats are skinless chicken and turkey and fish. Meats are best prepared by baking, broiling, grilling, or steaming. Frying is by far the worst.

Why eat fruits and vegetables?

They are a good source of fiber. Fruits and vegetables are best fresh, and then frozen and the worse would be canned.

Tips for healthy living

Try to eliminate or cut back on the salt and sugar in your diet. Have your biggest meal six hours before going to bed. Read all labels – the first ingredient indicates the ingredient with the highest percentage present. Unbleached products are best such as wheat flour and wheat rice. Wheat bread is better than white bread and wheat rice is better than white rice.
